What to Pack for Finse in Spring or Autumn

Shoulder seasons in Finse are January to March, June to mid July and September to January. The weather in Finse is unpredictable at the best of times but more so in these periods. These shoulder seasons are generally hardest to judge what clothing and equipment to bring because it can be warm and summery or snow can come!


In general for shoulder seasons:

Tech & Camera Gear Worth Bringing

Probably the most important tech you can bring is a way of having offline maps available to you.


Unless you are a professional photographer, we generally suggest the following tech:

  • Power bank and cables

  • Weather-resistant bag or pouch for electronics

  • Action camera or similar that is waterproof and easy to use with gloves one


What NOT to Pack for Finse

When you're coming to Finse, you're often packing your luggage on and off the train yourself so it can be helpful not to over pack. However it's also important not to underestimate the weather and underpack!


Here are some last thoughts to help you decide what not to bother bringing:

  • Avoid city-first fashion layers

  • Avoid cotton-heavy base layers in cold conditions; once they get wet they get cold.

  • Avoid extremley light-weight outdoors clothing (unless you are used to behaving as a lightweight mountain athlete); they are generally not enough for Finse.
