Location: The heart of the Southern Norwegian wilderness
Imagine stepping off the mountain train and into another world! Welcome to Finse, the tiny mountain village where time stands still.
The only way to reach this secluded stop is by train, ski, or snow machine: There are no roads! As you arrive, the storm clears and reveals a frozen lake, vast alpine tundra and the mountains that hold the mighty Hardangarjøkulen glacier, all blanketed in snow.
This magical little village has a rich history; legendary polar explorers have passed through and still do today.

Nordic Skiing: Discover the landscape
Nordic skiing is a calm way to immerse yourself in the beauty of winter. We use skins under the skis so you grip the snow and can 'walk on skis,' as the Norwegians say.
Beginners are totally welcome on this trip; if you have never skied before then don't worry because we will teach you everything you need to know. This isn't an adrenaline seeking sport like downhill skiing; it's a mode of transport.
Once you're comfortable walking with your skis, we'll use them as our main mode of transport. We'll spend the first days practising more and exploring the surrounding wilderness with time to experience the tranquility.
As your skills and confidence grows the adventure deepens; we'll load up our sleds with tents, sleeping bags and snacks (many, many snacks!) and journey further into the wilds. Our skis will carry us into remote and breathtaking landscape.
Safety is our top priority, and our expert guides are looking out for you every step of the way.

Winter Camping:
Picture the hush of dawn in a world draped in snow. Each breath a puff of mist in the crisp air, the only sound the soft sigh of the wind. This is winter camping at its most enchanting.
But it’s more than magic; It’s empowerment. To wake beneath the winter sky and realise you’ve learned to thrive in the wild, to sleep on the snow yet keep the cold at bay is a sweet triumph.
For two nights, we’ll immerse ourselves in this snowy wilderness. Together, we’ll shape the snow into cozy camps, master the art of melting snow for water and learn how to dry the day’s activity from our clothes. As night falls, we’ll slip into our sleeping bags, toes warmed by hot water bottles, and surrender to the peace of the wild, lulled by the silence of the snow or the whistling of the wind.
Don’t worry about the cold. With Snowstorm Adventures, you’ll learn the secrets to staying warm and comfortable, even in the heart of winter. We want you to experience not just survival but instead active joy when you’re snug and content beneath the stars, surrounded by the beauty of Norway’s winter wilderness.

Accommodation & Food: The mountain cabin
Our nights inside, we will rest and recharge at Finsehytta, one of Norway’s largest and most beloved mountain cabins.
The lounge boasts breathtaking views, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. Rooms are cozy and shared, fostering a sense of camaraderie. Modern facilities are shared as well, adding to the authentic mountain experience.
Dinner is a highlight. We gather with fellow travellers for a three-course feast of hearty, healthy Norwegian cuisine, lovingly prepared and introduced by your hosts, Sonja and Rune.
Don’t miss the chance to sample Rune’s handcrafted beer, a local legend in its own right and brewed in Finse at 1,223 metres above sea level!

Accommodation & Food: Tent Life
When we are camping, we stay in high-quality winter tents, designed by Norwegians, of course. Usually you'll share your tent with another person.
Meals in camp are still hearty and satisfying; we’ll eat high-quality dehydrated main dishes. We recommend brining energising snacks from home to supplement them throughout the day.
Everything tastes better after a day spent exploring the crisp winter air!
Dietary needs? Not a problem; our menu is flexible and we can accommodate a wide range of requirements.

Difficulty:
Moderate. You need a bit of fitness but you don't need to be a super-hero.
How much activity?
Each day we will probably be active for 6-8 hours. We will ski about 10-14km each day.
Consecutive activity
Five days of back-to-back activity and being out in the cold.
Skill Level
Beginners are completely welcome (and encouraged!). We can teach you how to ski and how to camp, no previous experience necessary.
Weather
Norwegian weather can be wild, especially up here in the mountains.
It can bring cold and extremely high winds. Of course your guide will adjust the plan in response to the weather but be prepared mentally and with the right equipment so we can still go out and enjoy some form of activity in even the worst weather.
The last few year, with the climate situation we have experienced periods of heavy rain in Winter. We provide you guidance in the welcome booklet of what to bring and how we'll look after ourselves in this changing world.
Itinerary
Day 1- Arrival & Welcoming Dinner
As twilight settles over Finse, you’ll step off the train and into a world where adventure begins. Step into the warmth of our cabin, Finsehytta, where we’ll gather around a hearty Norwegian dinner, swap stories, get to know each other and let the anticipation of the days ahead spark excitement in the crisp mountain air.
Day 2- Meet Your Skis
Today, the fun begins! Get acquainted with your equipment as your guide shares insider tips and tricks for gliding across snow. Start on the smooth, frozen lake, perfect for finding your rhythm, before venturing into the surrounding wilderness. This is your first taste of freedom on skis.
Day 3- Deepening Skills & Snow Play
Immerse yourself in nature’s winter playground. Explore the wind-sculpted tundra, where snow takes on wild, artistic shapes. Learn the art of pulling sleds, setting up tents, and crafting with snow. Today, you’re invited to rediscover the joy of childhood; building, laughing, and exploring in a landscape transformed by the season.
Day 4- First Night Under the Stars
With sleds packed and spirits high, set out as a team into the untouched wild. Discover hidden spots where the snow tells stories of wind and weather, until we find the perfect place to call home for the night. Tonight, you’ll sleep beneath a winter sky, wrapped in the hush of darkness.
Day 5- Second Night: Winter’s Whisper
Awaken to the subtle symphony of winter, perhaps the deep silence of snow or the gentle rustle of the wind around your tent. Spend the day venturing further and absorbing the beauty and solitude of the landscape. By now, the rhythms of camp life will feel more familiar and you’ll find yourself more at ease in the heart of nature.
Day 6- Return to Comfort: Celebration Night

That evening, gather with your team for a final feast, sharing memories and laughter.
